The Talented Athlete Academy (TAA) is a sports excellence initiative aimed at talented sporting students at MCSS. The TAA program was established to support athletes while studying at MCSS and to provide specialised learning opportunities.
The sporting program is designed to enhance the sporting performance of students selected, by developing a holistic approach to their athletic development. A successful athlete needs to focus not only on skill development but nutrition, goal setting, motivation, correct recovery, leadership, injury prevention and rehabilitation, cross training and tactics strategy.
As part of the TAA program, students can look forward to a range of unique experiences, including:
- Professional fitness testing with University of Canberra Research Institute for Sport and Exercise (UCRISE)
- Fitness sessions at the Canberra International Sports and Aquatic Centre (CISAC) and Club Lime
- Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) recovery sessions
- Sports leadership training
- Sports Injuries seminars
- Strength & Conditioning coaching
- Motivational speakers
- Attendance at major sporting events

- Year 7 students who apply for the program will be assessed by their PE teacher in Term 1 2026 to ascertain if they meet the TAA criteria for entry.
- Successful students will be admitted to the program Term 2 2026.
- No applications will be considered after the closing date.
