Fast Pace Program: Years 7 and 8

What is the Fast Pace Program?

Students in the Fast Pace Program will have demonstrated above average ability and the willingness to work effectively and productively with a minimum of teacher direction. A student accepted into the Fast Pace Program will work with the same group of students in most subject areas.

The exceptions are classes in Languages Other Than English (LOTE), and in practical subjects where safety requires smaller classes.

How is the Fast Pace Program special?

Students in the Fast Pace Program are grouped with others of similar ability and commitment. The work ethos expected of those students permits teachers to progress studies more quickly and offer a greater range of learning experiences. Students will study both more widely and in more depth.

Students in the Fast Pace Program will find it easier to enter the ability-streamed classes in English, Mathematics, Science and Studies of Society and the Environment, which are formed in Years 9 and 10. The Fast Pace Program is also excellent preparation for making best use of the elective program in the final two years at Melba Copland Secondary School.
