International Private Students
Welcome to Melba Copland Secondary School (MCSS). Our school is a multi-cultural community with students coming from China, Vietnam, Thailand, Pakistan, Brazil and European countries. The age range for the International Private Students (IPS) is from 15 yrs to 19 yrs. These students attend grades ranging from Yr 9 to Yr 12 within a twin campus model. Year 9 and 10 are situated at the High School Campus while Year 11 and 12 students attend studies at the College Campus.

Melba Copland College Campus
The College campus caters for the needs of students attending years 11 and 12. In particular, the campus supports students in their academic, social and cultural aspects of integration through:
- liaising with the ACT Department of Education (International Education Unit)
- liaising with subject teachers regarding each student's academic progress
- addressing social issues, including home stay and holiday arrangements
- supporting students to develop a sense of responsibility for their classroom attendance and academic achievement.
MCSS provides a caring and nurturing environment for all our international students. Two IPS co-ordinators are appointed to look after students attending years 11 and 12. Our current co-ordinators are Sonia Irgang and Shaohua Que, who is a native speaker from China. Shaohua's experiences enables MCSS to better understand and meet the cultural and social needs of Chinese and other Asian students. The IPS program at Melba Copland College has foreign language teachers who are native speakers of Chinese, French, German and Japanese.
We offer a unique and caring program. MCSS is the only school in the ACT to offer two coordinators who look after the international students by year group, one for year 11 and another for year 12.
