Melba Copland Secondary School has been an IB World school since 2001, offering the Diploma Programme for years 11 and 12. Currently, we are a candidate school for the Middle Years Program for students in years 7 - 10. The International Baccalaureate organisation (IBO) was established in 1968 to provide quality international education and to develop caring and creative individuals who will contribute to better futures for their local and global communities through innovative thinking and intercultural understanding and respect.
- The IBO supports schools and teachers to provide a rigorous, high-quality education, offering professional development that improves pedagogy and leadership.
- International Baccalaureate programs encourage students to think critically and challenge ideas.
- IB programs encourage students to think independently and to drive their own learning through building inquiry and research skills.
- Students become more culturally aware, through the development of second language learning and so will be able to engage with people in an increasingly globalized, rapidly changing world.
Middle Years Programme
A challenging framework that encourages students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world, the MYP is inclusive by design; students of all interests and academic abilities can benefit from their participation.
Research suggests many benefits to choosing the DP. The programme aims to develop students who have excellent breadth and depth of knowledge - students who flourish physically, intellectually, emotionally and ethically.
